We made it all the way back to Utah just in time for Danny's brother's mission farewell. Wes was called to serve in the Toronto, Canada mission and conveniently reported to the MTC right before Danny and I left for New Zealand. Danny's parent's house (our temporary home base) was PACKED with family when we got there. It was every man for himself to find a spot on the floor to sleep. Wes did a great job on his talk though, there was a huge feed after, and we had fun hanging out with all of the family for the next few days.
After we said our goodbyes, we started to head south towards California. Our first stop was St. George to visit our friends Jake and Mandy. They planned a fun day for us: boating in the morning, Kanaraville hike in the afternoon (such a cool hike through a slot canyon!), and pickle ball in the evening. We were sore and exhausted the next morning, but it was so worth it!
Next stop was two more hours south-Vegas! We decided to stay there for a night and conveniently ended up there at the same time as my best friend Camille. Her family was out for a family vacation so we met up with them for lunch--I love the Legges!
Finally, we made it to California! It was nice to break up the trip, especially after doing so many long stretches of driving. We got to California just in time for some beautiful beach weather and soaked up the sun before getting on a red-eye to wintry New Zealand!
